Alright, we were in the process of moving, which is why I haven’t written in so long.

Then after we were settled, and our internet was turned on – bam not a day later Hurricane Ike hit DAYTON of all places!

I’ve lived in Dayton about 25 years of my life, and I’ve never seen a hurricane come through. We are so landlocked it’s not funny.

Our power is still out, I just went up to stay with relatives till I get power back, I can’t handle being without the internet for a couple weeks. I feel so out of touch with news and such…

This is horrendous, we may not even get power back for a week or so, they said.

DP&L is not handling this very good, we were told the first day that it should take 4 days or so, we have a busted transformer on the main line out front, and our actual power post broke in half, and 30+ lines are down in our backyard.

It’s pretty bad, it’s lucky more people weren’t hurt though. A lot have been hurt financially though, many had lost food that they can’t afford to replace. Dayton has already been somewhat hit hard financially by losing jobs and such, this will definitely be a long lasting strike against the economy of the area.

Hurricane Ike's projected path

Hurricane Ike is on it’s way to becoming a major Hurricane.

Hurricane Ike is moving westward at 16 mph. The current projected path for hurricane Ike is that it could be hitting the turks and caicos islands and the south eastern bahamas by early sunday.

Hurricane Ike is the 9th named storm, fifth hurricane, and third major hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season.

Hurricane Ike started off the coast of Cape Verde in Africa near the end of August, Hurricane Ike has since tracked south of Cape Verde and developed into a category 3 hurricane.

Hurricane Ike’s projected path is to track through the Florida keys and head on up the florida Peninsula and north into the gulf. It is also feasible that Hurricane Ike may follow a path similar to Tropical Storm Hannah.
