This is a pretty interesting development, apparently a browser has just launched for children aged 3-12. The browser doesn’t just protect children from content they shouldn’t be viewing, but it pulls up the best content for them to view for entertainment, and learning values.
Instead of programming filters, that could miss adult material, and is essentially a blacklisting of bad sites, (with 100,000 new bad sites popping up every second..) the Kidzui browser only allows pages that have been whitelisted, and approved, it includes pages from youtube, etc.
Essentially it is a safe area for children to socialize and learn new things online. So far approximately 500,000 sites and pages have made it to the whitelist. Spiders initially gathered the content, but in the end humans have reviewed every single page, game, video, etc…
Other sites can be ‘allowed’ by parents, and some links that are ok, but blocked can be submitted for moderation.
Overall Kidzui has a pretty awesome design, the only negative, being the $5-10 monthly cost that it will be to use the software, many parents may decide to opt out due to the charge. I think they would be better off to use advertising, especially catered to their target market - Children. Essentially they have a browser that could be the only browser that 3-12 years olds use, if they position themselves properly, and Kids may not necessarily bring in a lot of money, but many of the spoiled little brats, get whatever they want - usually what they see on tv, or in this case what they see on ‘Kidzui’.
This of course is just my opinion. In fact, a good method might be to find a way to insert their ads, in place of other ads on any and all websites visited, kinda like the plugins on firefox that block ads.
