50'000 sites jump in early on the new Facebook Social Tools
According to Clickz, Facebook disclosed via their blog that 50,000 sites have installed the new social plugins which include the "Like" and "Recommend" Buttons.
Cyberjournalist then extracted the 3 main types of usage and the statistics behind them.
1. Instant Personalization: This was initially launched through partners Pandora, Yelp, and Microsoft's Docs.com. It basically personalizes user's browsing experience based on their facebook login credentials.
E.G.: "Hello Patrick, thanks for visiting. Did you know 22 of your friends like this page?"
2. Social plugins + "Login with Facebook": Many sites include 'like buttons' and also have ways for users to login via Facebook in order to make user registrations a lot simpler. Example that they gave was Levi's, by logging in via Facebook, when you visit the 'Friend's Store' you will actually see your Facebook friends' their names, profile pics, and upcoming birthdays, unless they have opted out of publicizing their birthday in their account on facebook.
3. Social plug-ins only: Most bloggers, and sites utilizing the new facebook tools are utilizing just the easy plug and play plugins. Namely the "Like" button, and Facebook page widgets.
I'm certain that the open graph protocal and Facebook's new widgets are certain to spread further, and wider, and if Facebook were to open it's company and become public today - I would invest every dime I have in stock. We are certainly looking at the next Google, imho, perhaps they might even make Google look like Google makes Yahoo or Bing look.
Only time will tell. What are your thoughts on the future of Facebook?
And if your head has been in the sand for the last two weeks below is Facebook's announcement of the new platform changes and additions - definitely worth the watch.
