I like thinking of high gas prices as a catalyst for change. It's a forcing mechanism, really. Sad as it is, we probably wouldn't have changed our lifestyle if it didn't come down to pure economics.

Buying a hybrid can have its pitfall. Just recently my hybrid's main battery has started to deteriorate and it'll cost me $3000 to replace it. However, the car is still drivable and I'm still getting 43 mpg.

Driving conservative, take alternative transport, and use alternative fuel are the best advice.
