Computinghost.com / Xisto.com etc SUCKS – Avoid at ALL Costs!

I’ve had the nightmare that would never end, I signed up about 3 months ago with computinghost for web hosting. Computinghost has been nothing but trouble. They claim to have 24/7 support, more like 3/6. Support tickets are usually answered about 3 weeks after submitted, and their servers are ALWAYS down.

99% uptime? Talk about maybe 10-15% at best.

I am so glad I made the switch to hostgator, I highly recommend that you take the plunge and join them as well, you could join from my aff link and I’d be extremely grateful.

Anywho I’m finally done transferring to my new host and just wanted to drop a note and let ya know that I’m not dead or anything – not yet.

I am closing my ComputingHost account as well. The turnaround time for trouble tickets went from a few hours to 4-5 days.

My site takes 30 seconds to load sometimes while any other site on the internet comes up instantly. FTP speeds were in the decimals (0.xxx kb/second).

    Definitely time to leave....

  • @stuart croft: I absolutely agree with you 100% - I've since switched to hostgator, a much better company. I highly recommend them.
  • I wish I'd never heard of Computing Host, XIdomains, Xisto, Trap17 etc. etc.
I liked the free hosting at Trap17 and so set up a paid account with Computing Host.
When first setup followed instructions to redirect DNS, but couldn't access file struture on server.
The issued tickets requesting help did not exist in client area.
Used live help dialogue for over an hour only to find I couldn't access the website because somehow it had got hosted on another company's server.
Overly complicated website, they transfered me from XIDomains to 'Plan A' on Computing Host, but after an hour still unable to find the CPanel.
Requests for a refund ignored, emails ignored.
Never known which company I am dealing with; XIDomains, Computing Host, Trap17, Xisto etc.
Claim to have 24/7 support, but actually only 8 hrs/day; it is part time and the operators are unable to correct issues like DNS and FTP.

@R. Moose: Thanks for the advice, right now I'm just glad to be back up - we will see what happens, I may end up switching again before it's all over, I'm just glad to not have computinghost(aka trap17, xisto, etc..) anymore, they have the lousiest service in the world
  • I had some issues with HostGator, but they were either quickly resolved or they were providing information about this situation.

My main reason for switching from HostGator was that they ended up taking one of my clients and converting him to dedicated hosting, by-passing me completely. If they had not done that I might even still be with them now.

I am now with LiquidWeb running a VPS account and am very happy with the "Heroic Support" that they have provided me, including when I picked up a domain that was unknowingly getting millions of spam email attempts per day. When I added it to my account, hits against the mail server went through the roof. They quickly diagnosed the issue and resolved the problem quickly.

In any case, it is nice to see you online =)

@Isobel: I doubt it can be worst than xisto / computinghost(small india company), but thanks, I will be wary, and perhaps will need to change hosts again sometime down the road.
  • Isobel
Good for you... Never heard of ComputingHost before so I cannot tell you about how it is there. For all we know it might be some small company but whatever..

But funny as it sounds your blog used to load way faster when it was at ComputingHost then it loaded now.. And as a word of caution better be careful about HostGator, OMFG I had the worst time there.... No support, no reasons given for why account was suspended... Then came the horrid months where I was not granted a refund for THREE MONTHS.. Three months I had to beg those mofo's for my money.

As the credit card was my sister's she did not let me challenge the transaction at PayPal >_> saying that I deserved it for choosing crapgator...

Well Best of luck with your new host and if you do not like it you can always shift to some other good hosting company. Best of luck
