Alzheimer’s is bad news. My wife’s grandma has it, and almost everyone on both sides of her family usually ends up with it, before it’s all said and done.
This is why it matters to me. Alzheimer’s should matter to all of us. Anyone can get it, and you don’t have to be old, either. Many young people get Alzheimer’s.
There are many treatments for Alzheimer’s, but alas most offer little to no true relief from the symptoms, and the ones that do offer relief do not stand the test of time, they only delay the inevitable.
Memory loss is a sad thing for many families. Mom’s forgetting their children, grandparent’s forgetting their grandchildren. Not being able to find your way home, simply because you can’t remember. It is extremely debilitating and scary for the person with this disease.
However, there is hope. There have been breakthrough’s, but more research is always needed. You can help make this a reality.
The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk® is the nation’s largest event to raise community awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support, and research. They desparately need your support as volunteers to become a champion in the fight against this ugly disease.
They will be holding walks in more than 600 communities across the nation. A Typical memory walk is only 2-3 miles, and is held on a weekend morning in the fall. It makes for a great family outing, and helps teach youth the value of helping other’s.
I highly recommend you participate in this event, if you know people suffering, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a worthwhile effort.
The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is definitely an event you won’t soon forget, and I can guarantee that when a cure is found, those who benefit will be forever greatful.
